Morphing Machines, a fabless semiconductor startup, recently secured $2.76 million (approximately INR 23 crore) in a seed funding round. The funding was led by Speciale Invest, with participation from IvyCap Ventures, Golden Sparrow, Navam Capital, CIIE Initiatives, and DeVC.

The company is based in Bengaluru and focuses on developing a “many-core” processor called REDEFINE. Morphing Machines was incubated under the technology entrepreneurship initiative of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. It’s exciting to see their progress in the semiconductor industry.

Funding Participants and Utilization

In addition to Speciale Invest, the seed round saw contributions from several other investors, including:

  • IvyCap Ventures
  • Golden Sparrow
  • Navam Capital
  • CIIE Initiatives
  • DeVC

According to a press release from Morphing Machines, the funds will be allocated towards:

  • Enhancing product development and prototyping
  • Expanding the engineering team
  • Supporting go-to-market initiatives

Morphing Machines is backed by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) through the Design Linked Incentive Scheme (DLI) and Chips2Startup (C2S) schemes.

The startup is developing REDEFINE, a many-core processor Soft IP designed to handle a wide range of applications, including data analysis, artificial intelligence, telecommunications, and high-performance computing.

Technological Advantages

The REDEFINE processor aims to integrate functions typically managed by different types of processors. This approach offers customers several advantages:

  • Improved Performance and Energy Efficiency: By combining multiple functions into one processor, Morphing Machines enhances the performance and energy efficiency of their products.
  • Reduced Time and Cost to Market: The integrated processor design helps shorten the development cycle and lowers production costs.

Team Expansion

Currently, Morphing Machines employs over 20 team members. The startup plans to expand its workforce to over 40 members to support critical processes such as design, verification, emulation, and tape-out.
